Lucille's 100th Birthday Party

November 8, 2005

On November 8, 2005, my sister Lucille was 100 years old. She was living at the Samaritan House in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Bill and Helen flew in from California to drive me to the coast for the big event. We stayed at my niece Susan and Dale Vuyovich's home in Saucier. They were in the process of moving into their beautiful new home and we felt very special getting to stay there. Bill and I had sent money ahead to Sharon Ballow, the manager of the Samaritan House, to help with party expenses. Lucille's daughter Karen and son Jerry and their families were there. There was a vase of 100 roses to mark the occasion. The local television station, WLOX, sent a reporter to visit with her and put her on the evening news. An article was also put in the newspaper, the Sun Herald. As she would say, "This will go down in history."
